Sat, 05 Apr 2014 | MERGER
Two jewellery companies in Birmingham – Hockley Mint and Merrell Casting Company – have merged in an attempt to better service their respective and joint companies.
According to the Professional Jeweller, both companies already have the same directors and provide similar services for their customers. As such a merger of the two firms into one is seen as an easy way of simplifying and streamlining its offerings without impacting on the companies' products, services or customers.
Both of the Birmingham-based companies specialise in computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), as well as providing finishing and setting services. As of the start of this month Merrell Casting Company will operate under the Hockley Mint brand.
It is hoped that having a single banking account, single bills and single statements will help provide more efficient services for customers who use both business. Neither company will lose any staff, nor will their contact details change.
Gary Wroe, Hockley Mint’s managing director, said: “We have been planning the merger for nine months and because we operate the same computer system, it has been very easy to transfer the data and integrate Merrell Casting Company into Hockley Mint.
"We’ve done the process before so we have some experience merging companies and hope this will lead to greater transparency for our customers.”
