Business law company DWF and professional indemnity firm Fishburns have merged to become one larger enterprise.
Fishburns is to become part of DWF, and the move will help DWF in its aim to be placed as a top three insurance law business. The combined firm will have an extended presence in the UK working from DWF’s many offices, some of which are located in Edinburgh, London, Liverpool and Manchester and Fishburns' buildings in Bristol and Dublin.
The strengthened business, newly named DWF Fishburns, has a workforce of 2,000 operating from a total of 13 offices across the UK and Ireland.
Antony Marsh, previously a senior partner at Fishburns, is to join the DWF board and told Insider Media: “Merging with DWF provides Fishburns with a growth platform that will enable us to build on our already strong Professional Indemnity offering, whilst at the same time providing a wider range of services to our clients.”
Andrew Leaitherland, chief executive of DWF, added: “Fishburns’ experience enables us to continue our investment in niche practice areas and consequently raise the bar around client delivery.”
On 31 January DWF stepped in to rescue another law firm, Cobbetts, in a pre-pack administration deal. The deal is yet to be approved by the SRA, the administrators at KPMG and Cobbetts’ bank Lloyds.
DWF has certainly been busy – it merged with three other businesses in 2012.
