Two law firms in Kent have confirmed their plans to implement a merger at the end of September this year.
Vertex Law and Cripps Harries Hall will combine to create a stronger presence in the region. United, the business will have 45 partners and 260 staff and greater ability to meet client requirements in the region.
Gavin Tyler, managing partner with Cripps, explained that the merger will allow the company to achieve the growth it has been seeking: "I am really excited at the prospect of this merger. We have been looking to grow and this merger with Vertex Law is one that makes a lot of sense to us.
"Their practice complements ours perfectly: it allows both firms to boost their expertise, doubles the size of our current corporate and commercial practices and provides a better balance to our key practices in Real Estate, Private Client and Corporate."
James Beatton, one of Vertex Law's founders, added that the two businesses will be a "very good match", partly thanks to their shared values.
The tie-up will allow the companies to expand the geographical reach of their services, with Vertex bringing a strong position in the Kent market, while Cripps has a greater presence in London and the South East.
For the moment the two companies will continue to trade under their own names but this is likely to change once the merger has been fully integrated.
