Menzies LLP and Beever and Struthers, two of the UK’s leading business advisory and accountancy firms, have merged in a deal that creates a national firm with combined fee income of £110 million and a more than 1,000-strong workforce.
The merger of London-headquartered Menzies and Manchester-based Beever and Struthers is a strategic move involving two longstanding independent firms. The deal is described as a natural fit in the rapidly-changing professional services landscape, as well as a notable independent transaction in a space in which many major deals involve private equity investment.
Caroline Monk, Executive Partner, Beever and Struthers, commented: “In a market where consolidation is often driven by private equity, this merger stands apart. It is rooted in shared independence, cultural alignment, and a mutual commitment to delivering lasting value and service excellence.”
The merger enhances Menzies’ standing as a full-service firm, while bringing in Beever and Struthers’ expertise in the not-for-profit, education, and social housing sectors. The combined business has a national footprint of offices covering London, Manchester, Cardiff, Birmingham and the South East, significantly expanding their national presence.
The deal is the biggest in Menzies' history, boosting its headcount from around 700 to more than 1,000. Menzies, which has been operating for more than 110 years, provides a full range of accountancy and advisory services and has specialisms spanning ten key sectors. The firm works with a diverse client base that spans fast-growth businesses to corporates and high-net-worth individuals.
As well as providing a full range of accountancy and advisory services, Beever and Struthers, which was founded in 1898, also has a strong reputation providing audit, assurance and strategic advice to public sector bodies, housing providers, social enterprises and educational institutions.
Beever and Struthers Executive Partner Caroline Monk said that the deal was “a pivotal moment” for the company, saying that it will create opportunities for staff and provide “deeper expertise, broader services, and stronger regional support” for clients, while preserving the company’s culture.
Simon Massey, Managing Partner, Menzies LLP, added: “The merger with Beever and Struthers is a defining moment for Menzies. Their reputation in the not-for-profit, education, and social housing sectors is unmatched.”
“This merger enables us to scale with purpose, deepen our sector specialisms, and continue investing in our people, clients, and future growth. Together, we’re building a truly national firm that stands out for quality, expertise, and trusted relationships.”
