Two longstanding, family-run wine merchants have merged in a deal that creates a significant regional business serving a major customer base of restaurants, hotels, pubs and bars.
Solihull-based wholesale and retail wine specialist Frazier's Wine Merchants Ltd has merged with longstanding Banbury-based competitor SH Jones Wines, creating a new regional wine wholesaler that will trade under the name Frazier Jones Wine Merchants.
The two companies first partnered in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic in order to support the hospitality sector. Following the merger, the company’s reach and presence is now extended across much of central England and the midlands.
The newly formed business plans to use this increased scale to help it grow its turnover by 10 per cent year-on-year. The strategic merger was supported by a six-figure funding package from Lloyds, with this backing also including an overdraft plan to support the further expansion of the business.
Frazier’s Wine Merchants Managing Director William Frazier said that the two businesses had worked together closely over the past five years and that the merger would provide "a strong foundation to grow and continue serving our community with wines that reflect both quality and value.”
He added: "With the support of Lloyds and the commitment of our teams, we feel confident about the future. Even in a complex economic climate, we're ready to grow, innovate, and stay true to our core purpose - to buy well, sell well, and educate."
Lloyds Relationship Manager Nicoleta Dulgheru said: "We're proud to have funded the merging of Frazier's Wine Merchants Ltd and SH Jones, especially seeing the passion and resilience both businesses have shown in the face of economic uncertainty.”
"This collaboration not only preserves two beloved local brands but also positions them strongly for future growth. It's a perfect example of how innovation and unity can help businesses thrive during challenging times."
