Two UK law firms are about to undergo a merger, combining over 200 fee-earners, 60 partners and a turnover of £30 million.
Midlands-based Martineau and London firm Sprecher Grier Halberstan (SGH) will combine to create a new firm called SGH Martineau after months of continued discussions.
Martineau - with 44 partners - is the larger of the two, and recently announced its intention to begin operating in Brussels in collaboration with German peer Becker Buettner Held. It specialises in the following industries: energy, education, banking, investment funds, private wealth and marketing.
Founded in 1984, SGH focuses on insolvency, real estate and professional negligence work.
Martineau boss Andrew Whitehead will continue in a senior position at SGH Martineau, while Martineau’s managing partner Bill Barker also retains his role over the enlarged firm. SGH managing partner Emma Shipp, and litigation boss David Bailey will join the firm’s executive board.
“Martineau and SGH are a complementary fit sharing the same vision and commitment to excellent client service,” Mr Barker said. “We’re confident that both existing and new clients will be able to take full advantage of the new capabilities offered by SGH Martineau.”
