Medical products supplier UK Medical has been purchased by US firm CareFusion in a move to expand in the UK.
The deal, with an undisclosed sum, marks CareFusion’s fifth acquisition in its aim to expand into markets across the world.
Gordon LaFortune, boss of international commercial operations at CareFusion commented on the deal, “The acquisition further strengthens CareFusion’s presence in the United Kingdom, where we have built leadership positions in infusion therapy and infection prevention.”
“We believe this acquisition will help us expand our long-standing partnership with UK Medical and better leverage the company’s clinical expertise to continue to grow our procedural solutions business in the United Kingdom and beyond,” he continued.
The Sheffield-based firm, established for over 30 years and with almost 40 staff, supplies medical products, such as single-use equipment to assist with biopsy, drainage and surgery, to the NHS and private medical industry.
On its website UK Medical states that it works with global suppliers to distribute products including CareFusion, Cooper Surgical and Bioteq.
CareFusion has a 350-strong workforce in the UK, is based in San Diego and also has operations in Switzerland.
