Two companies that form part of a Swansea-based call centre business have been taken into administration.
Deloitte was brought in to resolve matters for We Claim U Gain Ltd and Fuelswitch.com Ltd on 31 October.
The troubled companies form part of the Save Britain Money group, owned by Nev Wilshire, who became widely known through the BBC TV documentary series The Call Centre, which has been nominated for Best Documentary at the National TV Awards 2014.
Fuelswitch.com was an online energy price comparison business and We Claim U Gain focused on claims management and payment protection insurance claims in particular.
Richard Hawes at Deloitte commented on the proceedings to the BBC: “We are now in the process of winding up these two companies.
“Prior to our appointment they had already scaled down operations significantly and all 220 employees who are large already re-deployed to other parts of the business, have been formally transferred to other companies within the Save Britain Money Limited group.”
Other services offered by Save Britain Money include energy efficiency surveys and installation, mortgage reviews, pensions, and renewable energy advice. The group hit a peak with a turnover of £25 million last year.
We Claim U Gain and, another group company, Nationwide Energy Services were handed fines by the Information Commissioner’s Office totalling £225,000 for making nuisance calls in June this year. Over 2,700 complaints had been made against the companies in the space of 18 months.
