There has been word from industry sources that The Website (Leeds), a web printer business in Yorkshire, may have entered administration on 17 December.
Printweek was unsuccessful in its attempt to contact the managing director Graham Glynn for confirmation on the situation. While a receptionist for the company said: “Only the managing director can comment on that”.
The Website (Leeds) runs a web and sheetfed printer operation with a range of machinery to include the 16pp Goss M600 and a 12-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster with CutStar. Its sister company Glynn Print Finishers is located on the same site.
It is understood, yet not confirmed, that The Website had racked up bad debts of £350,000, which, sources say, created its present situation.
One fellow web printer said: “I thought Graham was astute enough not to get caught out like this.”
Glynn Print Holdings, its parent company, recorded sales of £11.6 million for the year to 31 May 2012 plus profits of £107,000, with a 120-strong workforce.
Just last week The Website (Leeds) hit the news with its announcement of the adoption of four staff from the former St Ives Direct Bradford business, including Chris Cowley, who was divisional business development director at St Ives. Mr Glynn was optimistic about the future, saying: “We have grown from being an SME to being a serious player”.
