DataCentred, a data centre and cloud storage business, has entered administration, but is continuing to trade.
The Manchester, Salford Quays-based business entered administration yesterday (22nd August) and is now in the hands of joint administrators from FRP Advisory Anthony Collier and Geoff Rowley, who are now seeking a buyer for the business and assets.
DataCentred is underperforming, despite having won some notable clients, and is not sustainable as it is. The administrators’ next step is to consider restructuring options while the business keeps on trading. Marketing has also commenced for the sale, with interested parties already in talks with FRP Advisory.
Founded in 2012 by Dr Mike Kelly, a pioneer in the data centre industry, it is a physical data centre and cloud business, providing software-defined and cloud-based infrastructure via public, private and hybrid clouds.
The company secured £1m to fund its expansion just last year and to take on more staff.
Joint administrator Mr Collier commented: “Over it’s four-year trading history, DataCentred has earned a well-deserved reputation for its expertise and has supported a significant network of clients. We are marketing the business and assets for sale and we encourage any interested parties to make early contact.”
