Aldershot Town football club has been purchased out of administration.
A consortium of buyers, including former Aldershot board members John Lepperd, Tony Knights and Russ Howell, and led by former chairman Shahid Azeem, have stepped in to rescue the flagging business.
Aldershot entered administration in May, after being relegated from League Two and loaded down by debts of £1.4 million.
The new owners have now officially taken control of the club, and have signed a deal with Premier League club Chelsea, which will see some Chelsea academy matches played on Aldershot Town ground, starting with a Chelsea Under-21 match against Tottenham Hotspur on 9 August in Aldershot.
Joint administrator Carl Jackson of Quantuma Restructuring commented: “The process has not been easy, but with the support of the creditors, fans, local council, staff at the club and football authorities, we have achieved the best outcome for Aldershot Town FC.
“What this now means is conference league football next season and a long term, and hopefully, successful future for the club.”
Mr Azeem expressed his thanks to supporters of the club: “We are aware of young supporters who gave their pocket money, pensioners who sold their premium-bonds and people who cancelled holidays so that they could contribute to saving the club.
"We will be working hard to repay this loyalty by creating a sustainable football club for future generations of Shots' supporters."
