The former management team for lingerie manufacturer Headen and Quarmby has purchased the business after being in administration for about a month.
New managing director David Moore, creative manager Paulette Roberts, merchandise manager Sameera Sethi and senior technical manager Sandra Ward are bringing 12 former staff back to work, and hope to fill the remaining 21 roles at the factory later on this year.
The business and assets, including the factory, are now owned by the newly created company Headen & Quarmby UK Limited.
Administrators from BDO were drafted in in January to take care of matters after the business was hit by delays in a large order, a fall in sales and mounting bad debts.
The failure came despite the attentions of TV retail guru Mary Portas on her show Mary’s Bottom Line, who launched a new line called Kinky Knickers for Headen to manufacture in 2012 in a bid to boost textile producing in the UK.
Drapers reported yesterday - 17th January – that the staff were set to resume producing Kinky Knickers in new colours and lace patterns and will be fulfilling orders once more.
Managing director Mr Moore said he was “absolutely elated” that the business is being saved out of administration.
He told the news source: “I've been dying to get back into the factory after a lapse of four weeks. The staff are absolutely delighted to be back at work.”
