Tue, 04 Feb 2014 | ADMINISTRATION
Two related companies - Rosemary Conley Food and Fitness Ltd and Quorn House Publishing Ltd - entered administration yesterday.
Mark Hopkins of Elwell, Watchorn and Saxton has been drafted in as the administrator, and believes that the choice to start an early administration procedure was wise and creates a chance to restructure the business.
Six staff are to lose their jobs at the Leicestershire head office, with the remaining 26 kept on.
The two businesses are led by health guru Rosemary Conley, 67, who said the move was a “difficult decision” to make.
Mrs Conley had been ploughing some of her own money into the business and had not taken a salary for some time.
She spoke of her regret for the situation: “It’s a day which the team and I have worked incredibly heard to try and avoid but the board and I believe that this is the most responsible course of action to take.”
The Rosemary Conley Classes are not affected by the situation as they are run as independent franchises.
Her food and fitness business sells slimming and health products, alongside fitness regimes. Quorn House produces the Rosemary Conley magazine.
Mrs Conley has also written several health books and has presented numerous fitness films. She was made a CBE in 2004 and was granted the Freedom of the City of Leicester in 2009.
