Debt management firm Smooth Financial has entered administration with the appointment of Royce Peeling Green.
Sale-based Smooth brought in A B Coleman and RM Withinshaw of Royce Peeling Green to handle matters at the start of the month, after a winding-up petition was served on 25 July by a firm called RPS RE A II LLP.
Smooth’s debt management plan has been transferred over to Money Expert’s debt management operation House & Home Care Ltd, trading as Immediate Financial, in Surrey. It will also assume control of the Smooth Financial bank accounts.
Smooth Financial is part of Smooth Group, owned by Mark Broadstock, and also had a creative and media arm and payment protection insurance and mortgage mis-selling claims operation.
A note on Smooth’s website stated: "A B Coleman and R M Withinshaw of Royce Peeling Green were appointed joint administrators of the company on August 2. We are currently formulating our proposals which will be sent to all creditors in due course and, if appropriate, details of creditors meeting. We have appointed the Money Expert Group to take over responsibility for managing your debt management plan."
A High Court hearing concerning the winding-up petition was scheduled for 19 August, though now the firm is in administration it remains to be confirmed if the appointment went ahead.
