Local magazine The Informer has been placed into administration and ceased its print runs.
Administrators from Portland Business & Financial Solutions were appointed after one of the company directors voluntarily placed Informer Publishing Limited into administration, the Western Wards Gazette reported.
Since then the magazine has been shut down and all nine members of staff have lost their jobs at the Park Gate-based operation, with debts of over £100,000.
The magazine was distributed in several areas in Hampshire and Southampton including Western Wards, Hedge End, West End, Netley, Botley and Bursledon. It featured news of charity and community events in the local area, and business and service listings for restaurants, property finance, health and beauty, as well as education, gardening and home improvement.
Design and print services and website building are also offered on the Informer website, which is still live at present.
Administrator Michael Field commented on the situation: “The employees were made redundant on our appointment. The production has ceased going forward. We’re going through a sales process at the moment.
"The creditors have been told it is in administration and our duty now is to share with the creditors the reason why the company is in the position and what they’ll get back out of it.”
The July issue has been released to readers, but it has yet to be determined whether they will see an August issue, Mr Field added.
