Great Hallingbury Manor Hotel in Bishops Stortford is on the market following the administration of its parent company Escape Hotels UK Ltd in March last year.
The sale of the 29-bedroom, four-star hotel will be managed by Legacy Hotels and Resorts, and it is hoped that a buyer will be found within the next few months.
Alongside its letting bedrooms, the hotel boasts Anton’s Lakeside Restaurant and Champagne Barn, which won top prize in the Essex Tourism Awards and made the final of the 2009 regional Enjoy England Awards for Excellence.
Legacy Hotels and Resorts' chief executive officer Andy Townsend has been tasked with turning the hotel around whilst working to secure a sale. “We have been appointed to continue Great Hallingbury Manor’s recovery after a challenging couple of years,” said Mr Townsend.
Christie & Co's Jeremy Jones, who is helping to handle the sale, said, “We expect to find a new owner who will see the value and opportunity in this business and appreciate the investment made in it, which has seen an additional 18 guestrooms which are currently not traded, but with a little investment would take the property up to a full complement of 47 guestrooms.”
