Core Controls Solutions, a Derbyshire-based specialist in the integration, control and automation of complex infrastructure, has been acquired by private equity-backed engineering services company Ipsum Group.
Ipsum Group, which is backed by IK Partners, is headquartered in Chorley and employs over 1,000 people at more than 30 hubs across the UK, with sites in the North West, Midlands, Scotland and the South East.
Core Control Solutions has a broad range of multi-sector experience, including in installing and maintaining control systems used to ensure safety and efficiency in the operation of renewable energy projects, airports and tunnels. The acquisition boosts Ipsum Group's offering, delivering specialist capabilities and significant expertise.
Describing the deal as “another key moment” in the company’s growth, Ipsum Group Chief Executive Andrew Cowan said that the acquisition of Core Control Solutions “also reinforces our commitment to driving resilient Power and Water infrastructure for communities and businesses across the UK.”
Cowan added that the combination of “Ipsum's existing specialist engineering capabilities with Core Controls” would strengthen the group’s “ability to deliver end-to-end solutions for our clients more seamlessly and efficiently, whilst also allowing us to deploy our existing skills into additional infrastructure sectors.”
Core Controls Solutions director Mark Brown said that Ipsum Group shared the company’s “values of innovation, quality and service excellence”, adding: "This partnership strengthens our ability to deliver even greater value to our clients and opens up new opportunities for growth and collaboration across the Power and Water sectors.”
Core Controls were supported on the transaction by a team from Dains Accountants, comprising Roy Farmer, Sophie Rogers, Ollie Cooper and Sarah White, alongside Rob Hughes and Andrew Shipley from M&S Solicitors.
Dains Corporate Finance Partner Roy Farmer, who led the advisory team, commented: “Core Control Solutions is a high-quality business with a strong track record in delivering automation and control solutions for complex environments.” He added that Ipsum Group was a strategic partner that shared the firm’s ambition and values.
