The Dyson Group has sold its subsidiary The Builders Centre in Sheffield to the Frank Key Group.
The builders' merchant business has a strong presence in the local industry and looks set to enjoy further growth under its new owners. Both Frank Key and the Builders Centre are members of the National Buying Group and had a relationship prior to the acquisition.
DLA Piper advised Dyson on the disposal, with associate Anna Lewis leading the team, along with the support of partner Catherine Simister and solicitor Richard Blackburn.
Ms Lewis commented on the deal: "This move will enable Dyson to focus on its core Dyson Technical Ceramics businesses and its property interests."
James Norton, managing director of Frank Key, added that the business is "delighted" to add the Builders Centre to its existing portfolio of companies and looks forward to "growing the operations in Sheffield and the surrounding areas".
The Dyson Group designs, develops and manufactures high-performance materials for the global market, with a particular focus on three core segments: automotive emissions, industry (ceramics, glass and steel) and energy (oil, nuclear, gas and petrochemical).
