Ison Harrison, an employee-owned Yorkshire law firm, has acquired Leeds-based practice Cohen Cramer Solicitors. Cohen Cramer, which has a national client base, was formed in 2009 through the merger of Howard Cohen & Co and Cramer Richards.
Since then, the company has established a reputation as a specialist in regulatory, personal injury and criminal law, as well as family law, dispute resolution, animal-related cases and legal costs. The company comprises four directors and 27 employees and reported turnover in excess of £3 million last year.
The deal significantly enhances Ison Harrison’s presence in the region, bringing its total headcount to more than 300 staff operating from 20 offices in Yorkshire.
Ison Harrison Managing Director Jonathan Wearing said that the acquisition was “testament to our ongoing commitment to providing exceptional and accessible legal services across Yorkshire.”
Wearing continued: “By linking up with Cohen Cramer’s specialist lawyers, we are not only expanding our team but also enhancing our ability to serve our clients with a broader and more robust range of legal services.”
“Cohen Cramer’s strengths in regulatory and criminal law perfectly complement our existing capabilities, and their focus on military and animal-related injury claims will significantly enhance our personal injury practice. We are stronger and more versatile than ever before.”
Emma Mason, Managing Director of Cohen Cramer, added: “Joining forces with Ison Harrison is an incredible opportunity for us. The firm’s strong reputation and extensive regional presence will enhance our ability to deliver outstanding service to our clients.”
Ison Harrison transitioned to 100 per cent employee ownership in 2022 and the company says that the new ownership structure has fuelled growth, leading to substantial client expansion and the addition of four new offices.
Wearing stated: “Our employee-owned model is a key driver of our success. It ensures every member of our team is invested in the firm’s success, fostering a culture of commitment and excellence that directly benefits our clients.”
