Ison Harrison, an employee owned law firm based in Yorkshire, has merged with a counterpart based in Skipton. The firm has acquired Savage Crangle in a deal that builds on its recent acquisition of another Skipton-based company, Armstrong Luty Solicitors.
Savage Crangle, which was founded in 1979, is led by partners Peter Crangle, John Eyre and Chris Storah and has a team of 23 staff working across offices in Skipton and Otley. The company specialises in conveyancing, family law, litigation, wills and probate, corporate and commercial property.
Peter Crangle, founding partner at Savage Crangle, said that the deal would bring “fresh energy and expanded capabilities” to the company and was “the right step for our clients and our team."
Post-acquisition, the business will continue to operate from the company’s existing office in Skipton, under the management of Ison Harrison’s Julie Smith, who will oversee the integration while ensuring continuity of service for clients.
Julie Smith commented: “Savage Crangle and Ison Harrison share a commitment to client care, specialist expertise and local values. Together we can offer a more diverse range of services to the people of Skipton."
Ison Harrison Managing Director Jonathan Wearing said: "Our goal has always been to deliver accessible, expert legal support in the heart of local communities. Bringing Savage Crangle into the Ison Harrison family not only expands our geographical footprint but also enriches our offering with their highly respected team.”
Ison Harrison transitioned to employee ownership in 2022 and, since then, has nearly doubled its turnover and opened seven new offices following a string of strategic moves.
In the company’s most recent accounts at Companies House, for the year ending December 31 2023, it reported turnover of approximately £20 million, up slightly from £19.3 million a year earlier, and moved from a post-tax loss of £1.2 million to a profit of £2.2 million.
