Window and door manufacturer Eurocell has bought residential construction products peer Alunet for £29 million to help it develop its growth plan.
Dewsbury-based Alunet, with 200 employees, has a range of home improvement brands. They include Alunet Systems, an aluminium systems house focused on the residential sector; Comp Door, a manufacturer of solid core timber doors; JDUK, a supplier of sectional aluminium garage doors and components; and UK Doors (Midlands), a manufacturer of aluminium roller shutter garage doors.
For the year to 31 December 2024, Alunet achieved revenues of £43 million and EBITDA of £4.5 million.
Eurocell is the leading UK manufacturer, distributor, and recycler of PVC-U windows, doors, and building products with over 200 branches across the UK, offering a wide range of products for home renovations and new build projects. This includes more than 10,000 products across garden rooms, extensions, decking, fencing, roofing, rainwater, interior and exterior cladding, and more.
Eurocell said the acquisition marks a key moment in its ambitious 5-year strategy to grow the business to £500 million in revenue. According to its most recent financial results on Companies House it has current revenues of around £364 million. One of the strategic pillars of this strategy is to cement Eurocell’s position as the trade’s preferred choice in all markets and segments it serves, and the addition of Alunet Group’s teams, products, and services is a significant milestone towards achieving it.
Darren Waters, Eurocell chief executive, said: "Alunet is a great acquisition for Eurocell. It significantly strengthens our position in aluminium, enhances our composite door offering, and adds a premium range of aluminium garage doors to our portfolio of home improvement products.”
He said that Alunet has grown rapidly since its establishment in 2013, and under Eurocell's ownership, it will leverage its leading market positions in new build, trade fabrication and distribution, to help the business reach its full potential.
The acquisition comprises an initial £22 million payment followed by a deferred £7 million payable from 2026, along with a potential for £6 million more based on performance.
Alunet chief Executive, Steve Hudson takes up a position on Eurocell's executive management team.
He said: “Alunet Group has always been an agile customer-driven business, which is one of the reasons why our brands have grown so quickly. Eurocell’s vision, strategy, and values completely align with what the leadership team at Alunet Group is aiming to achieve. Becoming a part of Eurocell’s market-leading manufacturing and distribution capabilities will provide incredible opportunities for both Alunet Group and Eurocell customers. It’s a really exciting moment.”
