A Welsh hotel and restaurant that sits at the top of the world's steepest street has been put up for sale by its owners.
Castle Cottage Restaurant with Rooms in Harlech is located at the top of Ffordd Pen Llech road. The road has recently been confirmed by the Guinness World Records to be the steepest street in the world following a passionate campaign by local residents, resulting in the removal of the title from Baldwin Street in Dunedin, New Zealand.
According to current owners of the hotel Glyn and Jacqueline Roberts, the roads 37.45 per cent gradient played no part in their decision to sell, which they said was due to their desire to retire after 30 years at the helm of this successful business.
Mr and Mrs Roberts revealed that they have already prepared for the sale by reducing their working hours, which means there is room for new owners to make additional profit should they choose to increase opening times.
That's according to Lesley Watmough with property specialist Fleurets, who is marketing the unique hotel and restaurant at a guide price of £645,000.
Commenting on the business venture, she stated that the new status of its impressive location is likely to be just one of the features considered to be attractive by potential buyers, who would also gain a top-rated restaurant and a popular bar.
Ms Watmough added: "This is a truly unique opportunity, the hotel has been awarded 5 stars by Visit Wales and is also a short distance from the medieval castle.
"Given the current operators reduced hours, there is also huge scope for business growth."
