Leeds-based automotive company AMT Auto has acquired a luxury car retailer in a deal that it says generates strategic advantages and bolsters its offering of vehicles. The target company, Redline Specialist Cars, is a retailer of prestige, performance and supercars.
The company, which began in 1997, is based in Knaresborough. Originally operating from a small forecourt in Leeds, Redline Specialist Cars has grown into one of the UK’s largest independent prestige car deals, selling around 2,000 luxury cars annually and employing a team of 34 staff.
In addition to retailing online, Redline also has showrooms in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire and Cirencester, Gloucestershire. It sells a wide range of luxury vehicles, from prestige brands such as Bentley, BMW, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, Range Rover and Land Rover to supercars including Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche and McLaren.
AMT Auto founder and Managing Director Neil McGawley commented: "Redline Specialist Cars is a fantastic brand and business and this alliance is set to take the AMT Group to a whole new level.”
"This merger offers significant strategic advantages and enhances what we already believe to be the widest range of vehicle solutions currently available, giving our customers even more choice and even better service. We are more powerful together."
Redline Specialist Cars co-director Robert Milner described the merger as a “big step” for both companies and a move that solidifies their "position as a powerful force in the UK automotive industry.”
He continued: "We share the same vision and ambition as AMT and by joining forces we will elevate both businesses, offering unparalleled choice and service to our customers. It's a win-win for everyone."
The deal comes during a period of growth for AMT Auto, which is poised to open a new location in Morley. Founded in 1995 as a leasing finance brokerage, AMT Auto has evolved into a £60 million-turnover business employing more than 220 staff across the UK.
