E-commerce fulfilment group International Logistics Group Ltd (ILG) has expanded with the acquisition of enterprise carrier management (ECM) firm Global Freight Solutions (GFS). The deal forms part of ILG’s ongoing growth plans and will equip the group with “best-in-class delivery technology” to enhance its fulfilment and delivery offerings.
GFS works with some of the leading UK high street brands, providing a single point of access to more than 1,000 shipping lanes across over 220 countries. The company provides automated multi-carrier shipping, utilising advanced multi-carrier ECM technology to enhance customer experience by providing a wide range of delivery options, tracking and returns.
The company’s technology helps to boost checkout conversion, reduce cart abandonment and increase repeat-purchase and will complement ILG’s existing fulfilment services, enhancing the shopping experience of online customers.
Following the acquisition, the two businesses will continue to operate independently in the short-term. The combined businesses employ over 600 staff across 16 UK and EU sites.
ILG Chairman Mike Stephenson said: “This new and exciting acquisition gives us the advantage of GFS’s best-in-class multi-carrier technology and services to greatly differentiate ILG’s offering to our fulfilment and delivery clients, and powers our expansion in the UK and international markets.”
GFS CEO Neil Cotty added: “We are entering a very exciting phase for GFS – this new relationship and the synergies with ILG and the wider group will help us realise our vision. It allows us to offer our B2B and B2C customers greater cost-benefits, unrivalled services, and expertise across every aspect of their supply chain, in every corner of the world.”
West Sussex-based ILG specialises in omnichannel fulfilment services for businesses in the beauty, fashion and wellbeing sectors. The company, which has 13 bespoke facilities across the UK and EU, is part of the Yusen Logistics/NYK group of companies, having been acquired by Yusen Logistics in 2018.
