Estate and lettings agency My Property Box has hailed a 'milestone' deal after buying peer Bellwood & Harris.
BGF-backed My Property Box was founded in 2012 by Ben Quaintrell and specialises in residential lettings. It manages properties across the North East, from offices in Darlington and Newcastle, serving both the professional and student markets. In addition to lettings, the company has a strong estate agency arm, delivering residential property sales for customers across the region. It secured a multi-million pound investment from BGF in 2024.
Founded in 2009 by friends Helen Bellwood and Justine Harris, Darlington-based Bellwood & Harris operated from an office on the town's Yarm Road, which has now closed.
They decided to sell now because of a desire to focus on other business interests, while ensuring their clients would benefit from the economies of scale and expanded range of services offered by a larger organisation.
My Property Box said the deal would add 150 properties to its portfolio. It added that the move – completed for an undisclosed sum – marks 'another significant milestone in its expansion across the North East and Yorkshire'.
The deal marks My Property Box's 13th acquisition and follows the recent move to add fourth-generation letting agency John Prest, based in Northallerton, North Yorkshire and Darlington's Landlords 2.
Quaintrell, My Property Box's chief executive, said: "Bellwood & Harris has built an excellent reputation for customer service and our commitment is to provide their clients with the same exceptional service they've come to expect."
Harris added: "We felt the time was right to step down and entrust our business to a larger organisation that shares our passion for delivering exceptional customer service. My Property Box has a fantastic reputation, and we are confident our clients will benefit from their innovative approach and expanded range of services."
