A care home near Stourbridge in the West Midlands is under new ownership after being sold in a deal brokered by specialist business property adviser Montane Care. Hillcroft Nursing & Residential Care Home in Wordsley has been sold to Gugan Healthcare by Astley Care for an undisclosed sum.
The nursing home has facilities for people with physical needs and those living with dementia, with provision for 28 residents. Darren Edwards, Healthcare Agent at Montane Care, said that Hillcroft had been “a trusted and highly-respected provider of nursing and specialist care services for over three decades" and that the home "is known for delivering high-quality care for individuals with a range of needs, including dementia and physical disabilities.”
The deal was brokered by Montane Care on behalf of Astley Care, owned by Jay Patel, which continues to operate five care homes across the Midlands and Cheshire. For Gugan Healthcare, the deal represents a return to the sector, after the company sold its previous care home in North Wales last year.
Montane Care, part of the Buxton-headquartered Montane group, provides commercial advice on the sale and acquisition of care homes and childcare facilities across the UK.
Darren Edwards said that the deal was “another milestone” in Montane’s “continued dedication to supporting the health and social care sector with thoughtful, strategic and well-executed business sales.”
He asserted that the deal demonstrated continuing market demand for “well-run, reputable care settings” and that buyers in the sector “remain highly motivated to acquire care homes with a proven track record, strong compliance ratings and a positive local reputation.”
He added that the sale of Hillcroft shows "how businesses like these can attract serious, experienced operators who are keen to invest in delivering quality care.”
Astley Care owner Jay Patel commented: “Despite the complexities involved, the sale was managed with care and precision, ensuring minimal disruption to residents and staff. Montane’s professionalism, sector knowledge and steady communication helped to make the process feel smooth, efficient and well-supported.”
Gugan Healthcare owner Parthi Kandasamy said that, following the acquisition, the company was keen to develop the strong reputation that the care home had built under Jay Patel’s leadership.
