Premier Communications (Peterborough) Limited, a commercial print and direct mail company based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, has been acquired out of administration in a pre-pack sale.
The company appointed Rehan Ahmed and Jeremy Woodside of Quantuma Advisory as joint administrators on April 30. The joint administrators then oversaw the sale of the business to PremCom UK Limited in a deal that secures the future of the business and protects jobs, with all 17 staff transferring to the buyer under TUPE regulations.
Premier Communications was founded in 1999 and had established itself as a well-known print, direct mail and marketing business within Cambridgeshire. The company used digital printing technology to deliver bespoke solutions for business print and marketing communications.
Despite reporting turnover of £4.2 million in 2023, the business faced a number of headwinds, such as mounting cost pressures and tightened client budgets post-COVID-19. These challenges resulted in cashflow issues that meant the company could not be restructured without a formal insolvency procedure.
The joint administrators and a Quantuma team led by Manraj Mand and Mary Dempsey, worked alongside law firm Ward Hadaway and chartered surveyors John Pye and Sons Limited to secure the rescue of the business.
Following the sale, joint administrator and Quantuma Managing Director Rehan Ahmed said: "I am very pleased to have achieved such a positive outcome for this well-established business, ensuring that 17 employees’ jobs have been saved.”
“We are delighted to have secured the long-term viability of the business, allowing it to continue its journey whilst supported by a buyer with the ability to take Premier Communications forwards.”
In accounts for the year ending December 31 2023, Premier Communications’ fixed assets were valued at around £761,000 and current assets at close to £2 million, with net assets amounting to approximately £469,000.
