Prosperity Law, a commercial law firm based in Manchester and Liverpool with a further office in London, has announced the acquisition of Carrick Read. The target company is a provider of insolvency law advice, commercial litigation services, corporate and commercial legal services and volume debt recovery services.
Carrick Read is based in Leeds and has been operating for more than 23 years. Following the acquisition, the company’s client base will have access to a wider pool of expertise.
The acquisition follows a period of growth for Prosperity Law, which has recently appointed Mark Lockett as its new CEO, following the earlier appointment of five new partners. Prosperity Law Managing Partner Ed Smethurst said the acquisition was “a perfect opportunity” and described Carrick Read as “a long-established and reputable practice with aligned values and business practices to our own.”
Smethurst continued: “Both companies have a strong reputation in the North West – we know the challenges and opportunities faced by the local market and this acquisition ensures we can continue to grow and offer great service and advice to all our clients.”
Carrick Read Principal Andrew Laycock added that the acquisition “will enable us to provide a wider base of services than previously and also increase the geographical reach of the extended firm.”
“It will also provide us with a greater depth of resources in ongoing work. We’ve chosen to join forces with Prosperity Law both because of their similar approach to client service but also a collegiate approach to the provision of legal services.”
