A Grade II-listed Italian restaurant known for being one of the most 'unique and recognisable' buildings in Sheffield is on the market.
The Park Lodge building, located on Archer Road, Millhouses, was built in the 1890s and was formerly used as a police station before being converted into Marco@Milanos restaurant in 1998.
The commercial property is up for auction today through Blundells Auction House at Sheffield Park Hotel in Meadowhead. The auctioneers describe the building as a 'Victorian gem with a fascinating history.'
Property auctioneer at Blundells Auction House, Lucy Crapper, told The Star, “Park Lodge is one of Sheffield’s most unique and recognisable buildings. We are delighted that we have been instructed to sell this building, it’s a privilege.
“We have had keen interest from not only local buyers but also from buyers around the UK. We have successfully sold listed buildings and prestigious properties in the past but this is the most well-recognised and historically interesting building to date,” she added.
Marco@Milanos seats 58 customers and comprises commercial kitchens, bar areas, cellars and staff areas, alongside an alfresco dining area. Some of the original police cells have been restored and add character to the building.
A tenancy agreement for the restaurant was signed last year, which lasts until 2023 and generates £28,500 each year for Park Lodge. The property is on sale at a guide price of over £350,000.
