The Craythorne golf club, located in East Staffordshire, has been placed on the market for £1.15 million. The present owner Tony Wright is looking to his retirement, 16 years after securing the family business in an MBO deal.
“The Craythorne”, said Ben Allen of GVA Humberts, the instructed seller of the business, “operates as a pub/restaurant and is a locally renowned function, conference and weddings venue as well as a golf facility.”
The golf club, which Mr Allen says has much scope for growth and loyal membership, features an 18-hole golf course, a 13-bay floodlit golf range and practice facilities.
“The site has far-reaching views over the historic brewing town of Burton and the Staffordshire and Derbyshire countryside” Mr Allen said.
The income is 67 per cent food and drinks with the remaining 33 per cent attributed to membership, green fees and range income. The sale is expected to attract interest from the food and drinks industry, licensed trades, leisure business buyers and rival golf course operators.
Peach Leisure Limited, the owner company of the golf course, has not recorded a revenue figure for the past few years but did enter its total fixed assets of £1.27 million for the year to 31 January 2010.
