Blackpool's landmark Queens Hotel is to be put up for sale, following the death of its popular, long-term owner, Pat Mancini, last month.
Hotels and leisure property adviser GVA Humberts Leisure has received instructions to handle the sale of the 107-bedroom business, which stands on prime space on the Lancashire resort's famed South Promenade.
David Coupe, the solicitor from local firm Coupe Bradbury, who is serving as executor of Mrs Mancini's estate, said that she had been determined that the hotel would live as a business long after her death.
"It was Pat's wish that following her death, the hotel would move into the ownership of a party who would be eager to see the business continue and go from strength to strength and who would also enjoy the same happiness and success in running this hotel as was enjoyed by herself and [late husband] Rudi over many years," he said.
GVA senior surveyor, Ben Brown, said that the hotel was a large-scale business that presented an inviting opportunity for an experienced hotelier.
"[The hotel] benefits from a high level of repeat custom from both individual holidaymakers and coach tour operators," he said. "We have had significant interest in the hotel already and are confident that it will not be on the market for long."
The hotel has four separate bars and a 240-cover restaurant. It also features leisure and conference facilities and a sun lounge with views of the sea front. No guide price has yet been set.
