Stansted Airport has been sold by BAA following pressure from the Competition Commission.
BAA, which is now known as Heathrow Airport Holdings, has sold Stansted to the Manchester Airports Group in a deal rumoured to be worth £1.5 billion.
John Dugmore, chief executive of Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, told the Cambridge News: “There is no doubt that Stansted is a key economic driver of the regional economy.
“That is why business across the east was growing increasingly concerned at the lack of clarity of future ownership. The news that Manchester Airports Group, who have a good track record of working with business, is the new owner is good news for local firms and good news for the local economy.”
The sale will put the three main London airports – Stansted, Heathrow and Luton - in competition with each other, a move that has been welcomed by businesses in the area.
It is thought that Stansted's new owner, which is made up of the ten borough councils of Greater Manchester, might consider launching cheaper long-flights from Stansted in an effort to give the airport the edge over its competitors.
In a prime location, this freehold business opportunity includes a detached, well-equipped bakery factory along with a retail outlet and cafe, all part of a family business with a century of trading history.
Established in key industries like power generation and rail, this company offers specialised electrical and engineering services across the UK and Ireland, boasting strong relationships with blue-chip clients and a reliable income stream.
This well-established company has a decade-long track record in a growing market and is fully relocatable or can be operated remotely, providing flexibility for the new owner.
