LSBUD (Linesearch BeforeUdig), a firm that provides an online enquiry service for identifying the location of utility apparatus across the UK, has acquired a utility and land surveying company.
LSBUD, which has bases in East and West Midlands, provides utility asset maps and responds to more than 15,000 enquiries per day. The safe digging service provides a free-to-use online search facility covering a significant majority of the UK’s utility infrastructure.
The service is used across a variety of sectors by anyone involved in works that are likely to break ground of any scale. This ranges from major construction and infrastructure projects, such as buildings and highway schemes, to smaller projects such as replacing fencing.
The firm has acquired Select Surveys, a utility and land surveying company founded in 1996 and based in Wrotham, Kent. The company specialises in eliminating or limiting risk in the design and planning of new and replacement mains and services in the utility industry.
Select Surveys’ surveying expertise will complement LSBUD’s utility mapping data offering following the acquisition. LSBUD Managing Director Richard Broome said that the acquisition marked a “step-change” for the company, following its previous organic growth and development, and that it was “just the start” of plans to expand the company’s reach.
Broome continued: "With the combined experience and expertise of both companies, and working closely with our new Select colleagues, this new chapter will help solidify LSBUD’s place as the UK’s most comprehensive safe digging service."
Deme Cordell, director of Select Surveys, commented: "After more than two decades of dedicated efforts in building and nurturing Select Surveys into a leading entity within the geospatial industry, we are pleased to announce an exciting new chapter in our journey.”
"LSBUD is a company that shares our unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of operatives and protecting buried infrastructure across the UK. This transition marks a significant milestone for Select Surveys and our valued clients."
Despite tough dealmaking conditions, UK deal values are beginning to rise
