RedCat Pub Company, the investment vehicle of former Greene King CEO Rooney Anand, has announced the acquisition of The Coaching Inn Group for an undisclosed sum. The deal will see RedCat take on the company’s 18 UK sites, continuing a significant wave of dealmaking in the UK’s pub sector.
The Coaching Inn Group operates a series of historic inns across UK market towns, with locations in areas including the Peak District, Leicestershire, Yorkshire, the Cotswolds and Cambridgeshire. RedCat says the acquisition will strengthen its position in the pub hotels sector.
Anand’s £200 million investment vehicle was launched earlier this year with the stated aim of supporting the UK pub sector’s recovery from COVID-19. The company is focused on making strategic acquisitions of both small operators and bigger pub companies.
The deal for The Coaching Inn Group follows its acquisition of 42 pubs from Yates and Stonegate Pub Company for an undisclosed fee in March of this year. Last week, it acquired the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel in Langdale Valley, Lake District.
Following the acquisition, The Coaching Inn Group’s Chief Executive Kevin Charity and Chief Financial Officer Edward Walsh will remain in charge of the company as it operates within the RedCat group.
