“Substantial offers” are being sought for the freehold on a Victorian Hotel in the Lake District which has been brought to market. The sale of the Keswick Country House Hotel is being handled by Colliers’ specialist Hotels team.
The hotel generated net turnover of more than £4 million in its latest accounts. It comprises 73 en-suite letting bedrooms, including four junior suites and two suites. The rooms are spread across the original main house, dating from the 1860s, and the adjacent Old Station Annexe.
The site, which has been under the same private ownership for close to 25 years, is set within around five acres of landscaped gardens and is situated in close proximity to Keswick town centre.
The hotel is also home to the Lonsdale Restaurant and Garden Room, which can provide dining for up to 140 guests, the Keswick Bar and Lounge, which can seat up to 100, the Keswick suite, a snooker room and a study room. There is also additional space for events in the Barmore Suite, which can host small private functions or boardroom events.
The hotel has parking capacity for up to 80 vehicles and extensive staff accommodation, which is spread across the main hotel, a separate chalet and a detached accommodation block.
Julian Troup, head of Colliers Hotels agency team, said: "There is substantial demand from both domestic and international hotel buyers for high quality hotels in tourism hotspots such as the Lake District.”
"We anticipate a healthy level of interest in the Keswick Country House Hotel. Last month we sold the 70-bedroom Ambleside Salutation Hotel and Spa for in excess of the guide price, adding to the high volume of UK hotel sales that we have concluded already this year, and demonstrating the continuing confidence in the market from a diverse range of buyers."
