A former Michelin star restaurant located in the village of Ripley, Surrey has been brought to market. The freehold of The Clock House restaurant is being marketed by property agents Savills on behalf of restaurateur Serina Drake. The restaurant is being listed for sale with a guide price of £2.5 million.
The two-storey building, situated in Ripley village centre, extends to just over 6,300 sq ft. The ground floor features the open-plan restaurant space, as well as a panelled private dining room, providing capacity for 50 people overall. The restaurant is served by a fitted trade kitchen located to the rear of the dining areas.
The first floor features a private reception lounge and bar, as well as a function room that can be used for a variety of purposes. In addition, the building also features private living accommodation reached via an internal staircase as well as an external staircase at street level. The attic level has two bedrooms, a kitchen and bathroom.
The property is grade II-listed and dates from the Georgian period. It is well-situated within the affluent village of Ripley, in close proximity to a number of pubs and popular public spaces.
Chris Bickle, director for licensed leisure at Savills Southampton, commented: "For the last 20 years, The Clock House was at the pinnacle of Surrey’s dining scene achieving a Michelin star and 3AA rosettes.”
"The recent closure provides an opportunity for a new owner to explore a variety of uses, subject to consents, which may include food and beverage, residential or alternative use. This property is filled with character and its historic traits make it unique in itself, and we are expecting a high level of interest."
Despite extremely challenging trading conditions, there have been forecasts that the UK hospitality sector could see a surge in M&A activity during 2024
