The Jura Hotel on the Isle of Jura in Scotland’s Inner Hebrides has been put up for sale with an asking price of £1.2 million. The sale includes the 17-bedroom hotel, as well as a separate five-bedroom owner’s accommodation and a camping/event field.
In addition to its 17 rooms, the hotel has two bars, a restaurant and lounge, staff accommodation and an outdoor server called “The Shack”, which overlooks the events and camping field. The hotel’s facilities have been extensively refurbished over recent years, including the installation of a biomass and solar panel-based power system.
Located on the Small Isles Bay, the hotel offers sea views and is located adjacent to a famed whisky distillery. The site is the only public hotel and bar on the island and enjoys strong custom from both tourists, locals and commercial visitors, bringing in annual turnover of around £800,000.
The hotel is centrally located within Jura’s main community of Craighouse and offers excellent access to the island’s coastal walks, cycle routes, woodlands and mountains. The current owners, who have been running the hotel for 11 years, have engaged estate agents Graham + Sibbald to market the property for sale.
Alistair Lethem, Hotel and Leisure Consultant at Graham + Sibbald, commented: “The availability of The Jura Hotel for sale is a fantastic opportunity for new owners to acquire a well-established hotel, in good condition, with the opportunity to further grow and expand the business.”
“Complimenting that is the inclusion of a modern five-bedroom house, ideal for family proprietors, seeking that sought after mix of life-style and good business; in this case on an almost unique and idyllic island location.”
The sale comes at an incredibly busy time for dealmaking in the hotel sector, which is being driven by the increase in domestic holidaymaking during COVID-19 and renewed interest in the sector from private equity buyers.
One of the best ways to find properties below market price is to look at recent administrations.
The well established business opportunity originally opened its door over 25 years ago, and has been under the current ownership. During that time, they built up an excellent reputation and loyal customer base within the local area.
