The West Retford Hotel, an 18th century manor house hotel in North Nottinghamshire, has been brought to market with a £4.2 million price tag. The hotel’s current owners are seeking to sell the business in order to retire. The Lavin family are long-term owners of the hotel and have invested heavily in the business over the past 20 years.
The grade II-listed hotel is set in approximately 4.3 acres of land and comprises 63 en-suite bedrooms, as well as The Chatsworth Bar & Lounge and The Orangery restaurant, which each seat 60 patrons.
In addition, the hotel also features extensive function and event facilities, with a number of suites ranging in capacity from 12 to as many as 200 people, some featuring private bars.
Located in the town of Retford, the hotel is well situated around 25 miles east of Sheffield, 20 miles north-west of Lincoln and 30 miles north-east of Nottingham.
Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has been instructed to market The West Retford Hotel with a freehold asking price of £4.2 million.
Commenting on the property, Christie & Co Regional Director David Lee, who is managing the sale on behalf of the owners, said: "The West Retford Hotel is a great hotel facility with multiple income streams.”
"The hotel has been developed significantly over the last 20 years by the Lavin family, and with a heavy heart, the family have decided to sell the hotel to retire from the hotel business.”
"This offers a fantastic opportunity for a new owner to purchase a wonderful hotel which is already very well established."
2024 and 2025 have been a story of tentative recovery in the UK leisure and travel sectors, with hotels playing an important role. As M&A in the travel sector rose during 2024, strong investment interest and dealmaking appetite for hotels was cited as a key factor.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a distinguished multi-functional hospitality business located in Aberdeen, offering significant potential for growth and expansion.
