M247 Group, a major connectivity and IT services group headquartered in Manchester, has sold its UK business to Convergence Group for an undisclosed sum, as it seeks to refocus its growth strategy on international markets. Established in 2003 as Metronet (UK), M247 has established itself as a prominent provider of hosting, data transport and cloud solutions.
The group says that it has sold its UK-only connectivity and IT services operations, including associated infrastructure and staff, to Solihull-based Convergence Group in order to focus on international growth.
The divestment applies specifically to services provided by the group to UK-only customers and it has confirmed that it will continue to serve global customers who have operations in the UK.
M247 CEO Darryl Edwards said that the sale was “a pivotal step in aligning our business with our international growth strategy.”
He continued: “By selling our UK-only connectivity and IT services operations to Convergence Group, we can sharpen our focus on delivering greater value to global enterprises.”
“This move enables us to accelerate our expansion into high-growth technology sectors, including IoT and AI inference services, where we see significant future opportunities. We are excited about the potential ahead as we continue to scale our capabilities and global presence.”
M247 Group has a significant and growing international presence, spanning Europe, North America and several emerging markets. The group currently operates 36 data centres in 32 cities across 27 countries, as well as a Tier 1-level global network that reaches more than 110 markets.
Convergence Group said that the deal doubled its team in size, as well as bolstering its service capabilities and adding depth to its skillset. As a result of the takeover, the group said, it would now be able "to offer a compelling proposition to our customers underpinned by improved service levels."
