A Welsh printing business has been sold in a management buyout (MBO).
The Edge Systems, based in Penarth, near Cardiff, was sold to its management team for an undisclosed six-figure sum.
The business was set up in 1990 and is a member of the Independent Printing Industries Association. It started life as a general print supplier but has built up the business to become a specialist in a number of areas.
These include supplying promotional products, ID cards and accessories to schools, and providing products for security printing and printing for car dealers. The Edge produces these products alongside its traditional lines such as corporate stationary, letterheads and business cards, and also has a number of environmentally friendly products to choose from.
Managing director Mark Griffiths worked with business advisors Greenaway Scott, which advised the purchasers on the acquisition.
Mr Griffith said: “We are thrilled to have completed the management buyout; we are focused on the future and plan to continue to build upon the 'year on year' growth achieved so far.
“The deal marks a new chapter in the company's 26-year history and I look forward playing a key part of it."
Greenaway Scott said there will be plenty of opportunities for the printing company to expand under its new management.
Spokeswoman Gemma Davies said: "The Edge is a well-established business with a strong customer base and huge potential for further growth."
The previous owners of the company were advised by Rebecca Mansfield Fellowes of Mansfield Fellowes Solicitors.
