Yorkshire car seller Meridian Motor Group has recently finalised its seventh business purchase in the space of six weeks.
Meridian has just bought Barnsley Honda Limited, which is to continue trading under its own brand name for now before being rebranded and absorbed into the group’s Vantage brand, Vantage Honda – Barnsley.
Sales at the enlarged group, now consisting of 14 sites with 350 staff, are expected to rise to £150 million. Its main brands will include Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, Lexus and Honda.
Meridian bought four dealerships based in West Midlands in June, and also announced a new Kia site to be set up in Scarborough. It then snapped up Batemans Toyota in the Lake District in early July.
The group, now ten years old, is geared to sell over 10,000 new and used vehicles a year. The most recently acquired Barnsley site is expected to shift 600 cars a year.
Mark Robinson, the founder and managing director of Meridian Motor Group, commented: “As well as a significant new acquisition to strengthen our business, this deal will represent the first part of what we believe will be a strong and developing relationship with Honda UK.
"I am pleased to welcome our new team members into the Vantage family and we will ensure that customers continue to receive the same high standards and levels of service that has driven our success in other parts of the UK.”
