Hotel operator Cairn Group has purchased Stoke Place Hotel in Buckinghamshire out of administration, for an undisclosed amount.
Newcastle-based Cairn Group, which also runs bars, intends to freshen up the 39-bedroom, 17th Century property. A grade-ll listed manor house, two cottages, restaurant, bar, wine cellar and events facilities are all part of the hotel, and set within 26 acres of gardens. The sale also protects over 50 people's jobs.
The deal was managed by Savills on behalf of the joint administrators of Stoke Place Hotel Ltd, M B Callaghan and R M Wilkinson.
Gary Witham, hotels director at Savills, commented on the hotel: “This country house hotel was once a renowned wedding and events venue and is well-suited to both leisure and corporate guests.
“Cairn Hotel Group also owns the nearby Crowne Plaza in Gerrards Cross as part of its extensive portfolio and has the capability to put Stokes Place back on the map.”
Cairn Group now owns and runs 26 hotels, and bars and restaurants throughout the UK. It has plans to refurbish the reception areas, bedrooms, dining, conference and wedding facilities at Stoke Place Hotel.
