Months after being placed into administration Scalford Hall Hotel has been purchased by a private buyer.
Entrepreneur and property developer Colin Warburg has bought the 88-bed hotel - rescuing the jobs of 50 staff in the process - for about £1.5 million. Scalford Hall Ltd went into administration in October after cash flow difficulties, with Zolfo Cooper drafted in to run the hotel while seeking options for the business.
Situated in Leicestershire, near Melton Mowbray, the three-star venue comprises nine management training suites, and 15 fully serviced syndicate rooms, with weddings also hosted there.
Mr Warburg is now looking to bring the conference organisers back, plough new cash into the accommodation and technology, and grow the sales team.
His numerous plans for the hotel include adding new facilities such as a large marquee for conferences, product launches and weddings for about 400 covers. He also intends to increase the number of twin-bedrooms in place of doubles and install two new suites, a new business centre and boosting the hotel’s Wi-Fi services as well. The changes will also do more to draw in families, such as Easter egg hunts at Easter.
Warburg told the Melton Times: “The staff here have gone through two spells in administration and have been incredible. Thankfully that is all behind us now and we can look forward to a brighter future together.
“For me this is a new venture and I am relishing the challenge. I looked at 60 hotels and bought this one.”
