A Nottinghamshire kennels and cattery is up for sale for slightly under £650,000 in an auction that also includes a pet supplies shop and four-bed detached property. The sale of Kirkby Kennels and Cattery could see a buyer tap into two major trends of the COVID-19 pandemic: the increase in pet ownership and pent-up holiday demand as travel restrictions ease.
The business, which dates back more than 50 years and was acquired by its current owners in 2015, has 33 kennel slots, eight cattery spaces and also provides care for smaller pets, including rabbits, birds and reptiles. Blacks Business Brokers is marketing the £71,000 turnover business for sale with a guide price of £649,995.
Callum Pollard of Blacks Business Brokers said: "Arguably there has never been a better time to invest in a business like this. With huge pent-up demand for foreign holidays, all those new lockdown pets are going to need to be looked after as travel restrictions lift and their owners head for the airport."

"There is also scope to expand the business, which currently has more demand than it can accommodate during the summer months. Given the size of the plot, another 30 kennels could easily be added, and a concerted marketing drive could further add to demand year-round."
Kirkby Kennels and Cattery operates across two buildings, including a pet supplies shop, purpose-built accommodation for pets and a reception area. The business and four-bedroom house are located in an acre of land.
