Onecom, a business communications technology and cloud communications specialist backed by private equity firm LDC, has completed its 13th acquisition since 2020 with a deal for Gradwell Communications.
An experienced cloud technology company that provides thousands of businesses with cloud comms services, Gradwell Communications generated turnover of £10.7 million in the year to October 31 2023 and post-tax profits of nearly £570,000.
The company has an extensive portfolio of solutions, including its own business-hosted voice system (Wave) and SIP network, unified communications services leveraging 3CX and Microsoft Teams and connectivity.
The acquisition is described as offering strategic benefits and opportunities, bringing Onecom additional capabilities and extended geographic reach, with the addition of Gradwell’s offices in Leeds and Bath, as well as adding an established customer base.
Onecom Group CEO Darren Ridge said the acquisition was “highly complementary to our ongoing expansion and diversification strategy” and added that both firms “share strongly aligned values and cultures”
He continued: "The pedigree of the team, coupled with their excellent customer base, makes this acquisition a logical step for Onecom in scaling up its capability and fortifying its diversified market presence. The inclusion of Gradwell into the Onecom family extends our service offerings to our direct customers and through Onecom Partners and underpins our commitment to deliver comprehensive communication solutions across the UK."
Gradwell Chief Executive Jamie Ward said that the deal would create “new opportunities to deliver even greater value and service to our customers”.
Hampshire-headquartered Onecom was founded in 2002 and is undertaking an ambitious growth strategy, backed by LDC. The company’s recent growth has seen it expand to more than 700 staff across a UK-wide office network.
