A leisure group headquartered in Preston is targeting national expansion after completing the acquisition of a holiday park in Suffolk. Harrison Leisure Group has acquired Cakes & Ale Holiday Park, which is located in Theberton on the Suffolk coastline.
The acquisition of Cakes & Ale represents Harrison Leisure Group’s first venture beyond the North of England since it was founded in 1974. Following the acquisition, the group says it is planning to target more opportunities to expand elsewhere in the UK.
The deal follows Harrison’s acquisition of Rawcliffe Hall Holiday Park in Blackpool last year and takes the firm’s portfolio up to nine sites, which are predominantly located across the North West, Northumberland, Yorkshire and Cumbria.
Cakes & Ale has been a family-run park since it was founded by Peter Little in the 1960s, subsequently being taken over by his son Fergus Little. The 45-acre site comprises 200 owned statics and lodges and 55 touring pitches for caravans, as well as three rental cottages.
Additional facilities at the park include a recreational area with tennis courts, football goals, golf, boules and golf practice range. The site’s location also offers guests close access to Suffolk’s beaches and villages, as well as local attractions such as RSPB Minsmere.
Harrison Leisure Group director William Harrison said: "This is an exciting time for the Harrison Leisure Group. We are delighted to be taking over Cakes & Ale, which is a wonderful holiday park in beautiful Suffolk that has a strong family ethos, making it the perfect fit.”
"This is also a special moment because it is our first holiday park in the south of England and, as we look forward, we will be continuing to seek opportunities to expand the Harrison offer into other areas of the country."
