A golf club for sale in the West Midlands area has found a new owner, it has been confirmed.
Independent property experts GVA completed the sale of Aston Wood Golf Club on behalf of Struan Investments Ltd.
The course was designed by Peter Allis and Clive Clarke and is located just 12 miles outside of Birmingham city centre. It was originally opened back in 1994 and provides 160 acres of land for leisure and golf games.
For this space, the sellers were looking for offers in the region of £2.25-£2.50 million. But the price didn't just include the golf course for sale, it also tied in a purpose-built greenkeepers' building and a recently refurbished clubhouse, including a function room, lounge bar, members lounge, pro shop and changing facilities.
Colin Crawshaw was the successful buyer of the business. He told Business Birmingham: “I am delighted to have purchased Aston Wood Golf Club and look forward to working with the current team to further enhance the offering and standards at the club.”
Ben Allen of the hotels and leisure team at GVA added: “The marketing campaign generated a high level of interest and resulted in strong competitive bidding for the club. This sale provides further evidence that the recent economic turmoil has had little impact on the value of a good quality, profitable freehold golf course such as this.”
