Testing, inspections, certification and compliance (TICC) firm Phenna Group has revealed the acquisition of Loughborough-based independent forklift inspections and compliance services provider Statutory Inspections Limited.
The deal is Phenna Group’s eighth acquisition of 2025 so far. Following the takeover, Statutory Inspections, one of the UK’s largest independent thorough examination companies, will join Phenna Group’s Built Environment division and be integrated into BTIS.
Statutory Inspections Managing Director Julia Willis said that it was clear from initial conversations that Phenna Group and BTIS “share our commitment to quality, integrity, and customer service”, adding that the deal was " a fantastic opportunity for our people and clients alike."
BTIS Managing Director David Blanchard added that Statutory Inspections’ "experience and knowledge will strengthen our existing capabilities and allow us to broaden our reach and service offering.”
Brian Shannon, Built Environment Divisional MD at Phenna Group, commented: "Statutory Inspections Limited is a great strategic fit for our Built Environment division. Their strong track record and technical expertise enhance the robust services already offered by BTIS.”
Nottingham-based Phenna Group invests in and partners selected niche, independent TICC companies serving a range of sectors. Prior to Statutory Inspections, its recent acquisitions include STM Environmental, a provider of environmental consulting services to public and private sector clients, and Calibre Environmental, a specialist water hygiene and water treatment services provider.
Phenna Group Chief Executive Phil Marshall called the latest acquisition “another strong step in our journey to build a best-in-class network of TICC businesses”, adding that Statutory Inspections’ “culture, commitment to quality and customer focus mirrors our own”.
Phenna Group was advised on the deal by a Browne Jacobson team led by Matt Bolton, partner in the corporate team. Bolton commented: "The strategic acquisition of Statutory Inspections is a fantastic addition to Phenna Group's market-leading Built Environment division as part of BTIS.”
