The well-known 30 James Street hotel in Liverpool’s city centre is up for sale, with offers over £12.5 million being sought. The hotel is being sold by real estate firm Savills, which last year appointed Legacy Hotels to operate the business after it fell into administration under previous owner Signature Living.
The hotel is housed in a building designed by prominent Victorian architect Norman Shaw, which was completed in 1896 and was most famously the headquarters of White Star Shipping Line, the company behind the Titanic. As such, the hotel features 63 nautical-themed bedrooms, alongside the seventh floor Carpathia Champagne Bar and Restaurant
Other features include an outdoor terrace, conference facilities, grand hall, banqueting facilities and a spa featuring three treatment rooms and indoor swimming pool. The hotel also enjoys views of the Liverpool waterfront.
The building underwent extensive refurbishment during the initial COVID-19 lockdown last year, with Savills saying that renovations created “a standout, newly designed hotel, allowing the business to recover strongly upon reopening".
Savills Manchester Hotels Director Tom Cunningham commented: “This sale offers a rare chance to acquire a prime city centre hotel and historic landmark, in one of the UK’s most popular destinations.”
"The history of the building, the quality of its provisions and the standout location have together created a fantastic opportunity for potential investors and we expect to see good levels of interest.”
One of the best ways to find properties below market price is to look at recent administrations.
The well established business opportunity originally opened its door over 25 years ago, and has been under the current ownership. During that time, they built up an excellent reputation and loyal customer base within the local area.
