Marketing and consulting business Jaywing announced its £18 million purchase of search specialist Epiphany Solutions yesterday (18th March).
The acquisition is a declaration of Jaywing’s intent to freshen up the business and move forward.
Jaywing is based in Sheffield, Yorkshire, and has offices in Newbury, Swindon and Ipswich. It has grown through the acquisition of other firms since 2007, and 270 of its 600-strong workforce are situated in Yorkshire.
Established in 2005 by Shane Quigley and Robin Skidmore, Epiphany has offices in London and Leeds and offers search engine marketing to a list of blue-chip companies including Virgin Holidays, Tesco, AXA Insurance and Pets at Home. It has seen strong growth over the past three years, reporting pre-tax profits of £1.43 million for the year to 31 January 2013, with gross assets of £2.34 million.
Once the deal has completed, Jaywing will have an agency division and a media and analysis division.
Jaywing had sold off Tryzens, its ecommerce business and part of its consulting division, for £6 million in October to make way for a strategically important business purchase.
Mr Boddy told the Business Desk: “The chemistry is right between our key people and Epiphany’s key people and we share a common view of the future and how we can succeed. This is also little overlap of clients, so there is a real opportunity to generate a lot of business.”
